BRIAN ADAMS
Brian Adams (b.1985, Inuit) is an editorial and commercial photographer based in Anchorage, Alaska specializing in environmental portraiture. His work has been featured in both national and international publications, and his work documenting Alaskan Native villages has been showcased in galleries across the United States and Europe. His first book of photography 2013, I AM ALASKAN, was published in October 2013 by University Of Alaska Press, the book, and I AM INUIT was published in December 2017 by Benteli. Most recently In Light and Shadow – A Photographic History from Indigenous America by Brian and Sarah Stacke was published in September 2025 with Black Dog & Leventhal and is a landmark photography collection featuring work exclusively by Indigenous Americans, shedding new light on the understanding of Indigenous America. In 2018, Brian received a fellowship grant from The Native Arts and Cultures Foundation and the Rasmuson Foundation to continue his work on documenting Inuit life in Alaska and the circumpolar. His work is in many collections including the Anchorage Museum, Alaska; Library of Congress; Denver Art Museum, and others. He is a member of Diversify Photo, Co-Founder of Indigenous Photograph, and Co-Founder of The 400 Years Project.
