Obscura Gallery is located in the heart of the Santa Fe Canyon Road historic district, and was established in 2016 to represent the finest contributions to the history of photography through both contemporary and vintage works. We consider ourselves stewards of photographic art, inviting our audience to collect a piece of photographic history and preserve it for future generations.  Established by curator, artist, photography appraiser and scholar Jennifer Schlesinger, the gallery showcases a diverse range of contemporary and historical photographic works from both emerging and established photographers from all over the world.

Obscura Gallery frequently features a rotating selection of thoughtfully curated exhibitions that highlight the relationships of contemporary and historical photography in the evolving narrative of photography. The gallery fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation of the medium through exhibitions, book signings, talks, online interviews, as well as offering photography consignments and appraisals. We focus on both historical and contemporary work, often spotlighting themes that resonate with current societal issues or artistic movements. Visitors can expect to see a range of styles and techniques through the course of the medium’s 200 year history, providing a comprehensive look at the art of photography in an intimate and inviting gallery space.
